Then get ready, we’re about to blow your minds…
This year’s Hullabaloo will be held on Saturday, November 22nd (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) AND Sunday, November 23rd (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.). You spoke, and we listened. That’s right—get ready to Hullabaloo with us ALL. WEEKEND. LONG!
Our (NEW) venue this year is The Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center at 467 Broadway (corner of Broadway and Hoffman St.) in the hip-and-happening Kingston, NY.
We’re super-excited about this huge, well-maintained venue in a high-traffic area, with great visibility in a cool neighborhood that’s reinventing itself. We’ll even be able to double our number of vendors to offer even more variety of unique, giftable items, and we’ll have lots of room for family-friendly fun!
The Center has an interesting history and great bones—high ceilings, a stage, tons of windows, a nice open layout, and a grand entrance. Originally a New York State Armory, the Neighborhood Center was designed by J.A. Wood (an American Institute of Architects award-winning architect), and built around 1880. Wood’s credits include many hotels, armories, and public buildings in the Kingston/Poughkeepsie area (the old Stuyvesant Hotel in Kingston, the Newburgh Free Library, and several buildings on the Vassar campus) as well as in NYC and Florida.
As an armory, the Center was visited by a queen of the Netherlands, during her visit to our Dutch-influenced city! It’s been a venue for world-class boxing events including some of boxing legend and local hero Billy Costello’s most important fights. It’s also hosted basketball games, concerts, dances, and community events like hobby shows and senior’s and children’s programs. In 2008, it was renamed after the late Andy Murphy, who served as the city’s Parks and Recreation Superintendent for 28 years.
We love that all our vendors will be in the same open, light-filled, toasty space this year, don’t you?
