It’s an Arty After Party!: The Anchor Host a Post-Hullabaloo Gathering

Because you’re not quite ready to go home yet…we’re going to keep the party going!

The Anchor (744-746 Broadway, Kingston) is hosting a Hullabaloo After Party after we close on Saturday evening!  Hullabaloo continues on Sunday, but it’s a long night before morning and we wanted to hang out with our vendors, sponsors, and friends a little longer! The best part: it’s open to the public, so come and hang with us!

They’re running a Hullabaloo special for us from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, with $1 off drafts, $4 well drinks, and a $6 appetizer menu. Their regular menu will be available as well.

What!?!? You haven’t been to The Anchor? Not only do they serve as a venue for great music and other events, they’ve got fantastic burgers and other grub! The space was renovated when The Anchor moved in, and it’s super-cool, and cozy-but-spacious—the perfect place to relax and celebrate new friends and craft fair successes!

Want to really party-hardy? There’s a burlesque show starting at 8:00: You can get tickets there if you’re over 21, but we think we’ll get a good night’s sleep to be ready for Hullabaloo Day 2!

So head up to unwind after we close on Saturday…Hope to see you there!

Meet the Makers! Knot by Gran'ma, PK Brown Woodworking, Troy Cloth & Paper, Silke Jacobs, Joy and Noelle, and Hanky Blanky

Knot by Gran’ma Jess from Poughquag is joining us at her first Hullabaloo with her one-of-a-kind crocheted monsters, and cat, pig, and pug butt keychains! As Jess explains, her monsters “are meant to make you step back and smile, without being too dark or frightening.” They feature bold colors and textures, and sometimes horns, third eyes, and single fangs…Wouldn’t someone you know LOVE to find one of THESE monsters under their bed?

PK Brown Woodworking  “Each tree writes its own story,” says Kaj of PK Brown Woodworking. His mission, he feels, is to carefully reveal the grains of the woods to let the stories show through. In his studio in Tivoli, which is powered by a photovoltaic system, he creates his pepper mills, coffee grinders, and other wood products. Eco-conscious and beautifully-crafted, Kaj’s products are fantastically functional gifts for anyone who cooks, eats, or drinks coffee! (So, basically anyone!)

Troy Cloth & Paper Taylor and Ben have a brick and mortar retail store and screen-printing shop in Downtown Troy—go watch them print sometime! They offer greeting cards, art prints, and clothing with hip, fun graphics and witty words, using high-quality materials.  This is their first Hullabaloo, so say hello and give them a high five…Or just buy their awesome high five t-shirt!

Silke Jacobs – Using high-quality, US-sourced materials in gorgeous patterns, Silke sews her original bags with the greatest attention to detail. Her cross-body purses, wristlets, cosmetics bags, wallets, and other useful pouches and bags make functional and fashionable gifts for the holidays. (I mean, have you seen a more perfect wallet?!?) Silke lives in Germantown, NY and is a returning vendor at Hullabaloo. In addition to her bags, this busy lady also makes cute-as-a-button bibs and burp cloths as Kribbe Handmade on Etsy, sells fabric, and works at the Etsy offices in Hudson as part of the Integrity Team!

Joy and Noelle – Returning Hullabaloo vendors Joy and Noelle are twins, award-winning animators (www.twinsareweird.com), and illustrators from Astoria, NY, and Kingston, respectively.  They collaborate on all their projects, selling decoupaged plates featuring their drawings as well as found materials. They use their plates “as a way to tell you very short stories, with the hope of making you smile.” They make great gifts for everyone who appreciates pretty things and good stories!

Hanky Blanky Rosi makes beautiful blankets, bibs, clothing, dolls, and puppets using vintage handkerchiefs, fabrics, and trims from over 20 years of collecting. Her pieces have been called “memory clothing” but we like to say they’re “hand-me-downs any kid would want.” Her patterns are based on antique and flea market finds, and each piece is handcrafted with love by Rosi herself in NYC. Dapper onsies with attached gingham vests and bowties and girly ruffled rompers are just some of her adorable creations that are perfect for the little ones in your life!

Meet the Makers! Rebecca Peacock, Cynla, Captain Blankenship, Hudson Naturals and Little Llama Shop!

Rebecca Peacock Jewelry – Rebecca uses 14- and 18- karat gold, diamonds, and semi-precious gemstones to create rings, earrings and necklaces that are “intentionally simple and casually luxurious.”  Supporting ethical, sustainable, and fair work practices, AND using reclaimed materials, Rebecca’s geometrically-inspired designs combine an understated elegance with social-consciousness for luxury you can feel good about!  Rebecca lives and works near Kingston and is a returning Hullabaloo vendor.

Cynla  Cindy’s cards, notepads, and prints inspire us to slow down, keep in touch, and invite an old friend out for brunch, already! Her products feature her hand-drawn illustrations, watercolors, and digitally-colored artwork. Full of whimsy, detail, and playfulness, Cindy’s cards just make us happy. She’s a returning vendor at Hullabaloo and hails from Beacon, NY. Check out her holiday greetings and stock up on casual invites too—when things calm down in January, you’re going to want to start scheduling those cheeseburger/ice cream/tea dates!

Captain Blankenship – Using only organic, wild-crafted, or natural ingredients, Jana Blankenship crafts her refreshingly natural products for hair, body, skin, and lips, inspired by the smells of the natural world. Her unique scents will make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated just reading their descriptions: “White flowers change their hue with strokes of sweet orange, grapefruit, and bergamot” is just one example. Now, don’t you feel fresh as a daisy already? Based in New Paltz, Jana’s products have been featured in Marie Claire, Business Week, and People Style Watch on the web. You can find her products in several local boutiques, as well as Urban Outfitters, Birchbox, and other cool places! Perfect gift idea: Kick any beach babe’s winter blues with a bottle of Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray in her stocking!

Hudson Naturals Hudson Naturals offers unrefined, cold-processed culinary avocado oil and the beauty products like soaps, body butters, lip balm, scrubs, and shaving soap they make from the unused oil.  As the world’s healthiest oil, avocado oil is good for you inside and out, and we love that Christina found a way to reduce the waste from one product to create something else incredibly nourishing!  Whether you’re shopping for the culinarian on your list, or for someone who needs some pampering, you can find the perfect gift from this Gardiner-based maker!

Little Llama Shop Kate’s custom applique baby onsies feature holiday themes like gingerbread men, reindeer, and dreidels, as well as everyday animals and other baby’s-favorite-things!  She also makes tooth fairy pillows and booties too. Originally from South Africa, Kate lives and works in Westchester and is joining us for her first Hullabaloo! Need a “new baby” gift? How about the “Hi, I’m new here!” onsie?
