Vendor Feature: Liz Clark Jewelry, Virginia Piazza Pottery, The Hudson Standard, and Matt Pleva

This bunch of fantastic Hullabaloo vendors includes the award-winner for the furthest drive to Hullabaloo (if there was such an award), a third year Hullabaloo veteran, a Hullabaloo newbie, and a hometown favorite!  They should all be able to help you knock a few more gifts off your holiday list, so learn a little more about them and click on their links to start getting some ideas!

Liz Clark Jewelry, Providence, RI

In her metal studio in Providence, RI, Liz uses floral and geometric elements with simple lines and silhouettes to create a subtle-but-striking collection of earrings, necklaces, rings, and brooches. Her work has a sculptural feel, yet her pieces are delicate, unobtrusive, and comfortable to wear. The organic elements of her work lend a classic feel and timeless elegance to balance the modern edge of the shapes and materials used in her unique jewelry.  Whether you’re looking want an un-fussy brooch for a classy lady on your list, a unique statement necklace for New Year’s, or a gorgeous pair of studs for a trendy teen, Liz has the perfect piece! It’s her first Hullabaloo and she’s making a long drive to join us, so give her a warm welcome! 

Virginia Piazza Pottery, Beacon, NY

As soon as Virginia started working with clay, she knew it was her medium! After experimenting with different firing techniques and types of pieces, Virginia now focuses on functional ware, mostly with porcelain in a limited glaze palette; lately, though, she’s been incorporating some neat embellishments. Her work is clean, simple, and charmingly understated, with a muted color palette and comforting, functional shapes. Her mission is to make work that speaks to the user and finds a special place in their everyday life. Virginia’s work somehow feels both familiar and completely fresh, bringing to mind breakfasts on summer porches and cool nights spent in warm places!  Her bowls, mugs, vases, pots, sugar bowls, nesting bowls, berry bowls, and serving dishes make great gifts for so many occasions. Virginia has been with us from the beginning, so please join us in welcoming her back to Hullabaloo!

The Hudson Standard, Hudson, NY

Using traditional processes that date back to colonial times, The Hudson Standard hand-crafts cocktail bitters and shrubs (deliciously tart syrups made of fruit, spices, vinegar, and sweetener) that are creating delicious cocktails, sodas, foods, and sauces in top-notch regional restaurants and in homes nationwide. Their products highlight the flavors of the Hudson Valley (think Apple Coriander Maple Shrub and Spruce Shooter Bitters, for starters) and work with NYS farms to source the best ingredients. Doesn’t a nice fall cocktail (like the Pear Honey Ginger Shrub with rum, gin, or bourbon!) with Thanksgiving dinner sound like a good idea? Stop by The Hudson Standard’s table at their first Hullabaloo and pick up some of their products for the home bartender or chef on your list...and some for yourself!

Matt Pleva, Kingston, NY

If Matt Pleva’s intricate work looks familiar, it’s because he was one of the muralists whose work was part of the O+ Festival last year!  On a smaller scale (pretty small, actually) he creates these incredible dioramas, illustrations, and miniature pen and ink drawings, and turns them into wearable art (buttons, earrings, pendants) and display pieces. He takes his inspiration from his vast range of interests including history and pop culture—so you’ll find tiny scenes from Dr. Who, Monty Python, Office Space, Star Trek, The Wizard of Oz and more, as well as historical “reenactments” in pen and ink! He also offers a large selection of prints, cards, and postcards.  Have a favorite movie moment you’d like him to recreate in paper? He does commissions! Vendor Feature: Andrew Molleur Studio, Upstate Diary, Aubry, and Rebecca Peacock Jewelry

“New” is the common theme among today’s featured vendors…Here, we’ll tell you more abouttwo returning vendors bringing new products and expanded lines to this year’s event, a new-to-Hullabaloo woodcarving couple practicing a traditional craft, and a brand new publication joining us this year to introduce their gorgeous first issue! 

Andrew Molleur Studio, Kingston, NY

Andrew utilizes traditional and modern techniques to design and construct his low-production functional inlaid ceramic pieces. His vases, trays, planters, mugs, bowls, and other vessels reflect Andrew’s influences from architecture and design, resulting in distinct pieces that combine clean lines, geometric fragments, and textural experiences. This is Andrew’s second Hullabaloo and this year he’s bringing new forms and colors that he’s been integrating to his cohesive collection. Got someone on your holiday shopping list who appreciates minimalist design? Andrew’s work is a sure bet to be their favorite gift all season! 

Upstate Diary, Hudson Valley, NY

Upstate Diary is a new publication that focuses on the creators that call the area home, and the lifestyles they cultivate. UD celebrates “the creative possibilities that thrive in communities outside of city limits” and explores the ways the region’s natural beauty and rural ways of life inform and influence the artists they feature. Issue One of this beautiful 9x12 format magazine features interviews and intimate photo essays featuring visual artist Carrie Mae Weems (on race and inequality in art), filmmaker Marianna Rothen (on farm life and distress), and architect Angela Patterson (on Calvin Klein signature shops and barn design). Aubry, Lenox, MA

Inspired by a random book read during some down-time from their farm, Matthew and Kyra Hart began to create hand-carved wooden spoons, lathed-turned bowls, and other wooden pots and vessels. In this “throwaway” culture, they set out to make pieces that would become family heirlooms and carry with them the stories of family gatherings and memories of good company.  As is immediately apparent when you see—and touch (you won’t be able to restrain yourself!)—their gorgeous handcrafted pieces, they’ve succeeded. Their work makes a beautiful, thoughtful gift for anyone who loves to cook, or loves to eat. We love their beautiful stirring spoons as hostess gifts (that spoon will be stirring pots for generations to come!) and their gorgeous bowls for newlyweds (to serve them as they grow old together!). This is Aubry’s first Hullabaloo so give them a warm welcome! 

Rebecca Peacock Jewelry, Kingston, NY

Rebecca’s geometrically-inspired designs combine understated elegance with socially-responsible luxury. Rebecca uses repurposed materials and materials sourced with ethical, sustainable, and fair work practices in mind. She expertly transforms 14- and 18- karat gold, diamonds, and semi-precious gemstones into rings, earrings, and necklaces that are simple and casual, yet indulgent. In addition to her delicately edgy, classically modern jewelry, Rebecca makes metal spoons and other tablewear, and has increased her offering just in time for her third Hullabaloo! You know that last gift under the tree that you’ve been saving to the very end because it’s a small box that will make a huge impression? THAT’S the kind of gift Rebecca’s jewelry is! 

Vendor Feature: Ash & Anchor, Honeybrook Farms, Ann Egan Jewelry, and Boneshaker Print Shop

It’s that time in the Hullabaloo countdown—time to start introducing some of our awesome vendors! Two of them you’ve met at past Hullabaloos…and two are new friends. All are incredible additions to our line-up! Read about them below:

Ash and Anchor, Catskill, NY

We just LOVE Nina Pace’s bold yet-intricate patterns and everything she puts them on! Designed for the bohemian at heart, Ash and Anchor offers scarves, pillows, tea towels, serving platters, and more in truly unique designs that combine elements of flora and fauna, geometry and geology, astronomy, mythology, and more into a beautiful organic collision. Each time you look at one of Nina’s beautiful patterns, you discover something new about it—a snake weaving around the mandala-like image in the center of a platter, the Victorian-inspired roses on a pillow that remind you of your grandma’s house, how perfectly the background pattern of a scarf echoes the diamond in the focal point. We think everyone deserves to surround themselves with art…so pick out something for a few of your favorite people when you stop and say hello to Ash and Anchor at her first Hullabaloo!

Honeybrook Farms, Pine Bush, NY

Welcome back to Hullabaloo, Honeybrook Farms!  Their 100% natural honey and honey bee products are completely raw, unprocessed, uncooked, strained-only, and local—coming “direct from the beehive to you!” Todd has been a beekeeper since 1968, learning from a master beekeeper in Germany as a kid—and trust us, there’s a lot to learn!  Honeybrook offers wildflower honey, buckwheat honey, bee pollen and more, wholesaling to customers from the apiary in Pine Bush, and selling at local events. This year, they added jams made with honey to their line, and we CAN’T WAIT to try it!  

Ann Egan Jewelry, Kingston, NY

Ann Egan’s jewelry combines traditional elegance with intricate, exotic design. With juxtapositions of shapes and colors reminiscent of other art forms (think: mosaics, stained glass, and certain styles of painting), Ann’s work takes on a distinct aesthetic that melds different periods and styles (you can see the influence of her art history roots!). She uses semiprecious stones, Austrian crystals, Czech and Bohemian glass, and seed beads mosaicked into original brass castings, which have been oxidized for a vintage feel. This is Ann’s first Hullabaloo and we’re so excited to have her! Her beautiful and unique earrings, necklaces, and bracelets would be a big hit with the ladies in your life so be sure to check Ann’s table out!

Boneshaker Print Shop, Kingston, NY

Have you seen people walking around with those super-cool Kingston t-shirts? You know, the COOL ones! Yeah, now you know what we’re talking about: The old-school Stockade District map shirts, the retro uptown Kingston New York shirts, the “Stockade Names” tees, the Trail Marker tees, the Midtown Arts District tees? Steve from Boneshaker hand-screens clothing and accessories that pay tribute to our awesome City of Kingston. His shirts have sold out at both previous Hullabaloos, so get there early to grab yours! He’s also bringing along hoodies, bags, and beanies this year, so you can show your Kingston pride from head to…well, hip at least.
